Most
people wonder how companies stay around and make it through society. WestJet is
one example how a small company worked its way up from the bottom to the top.
By exquisite customer service, low fares and having a hassle free booking
experience.
WestJet
started up on February 29,1996 and was founded by an entrepreneur Clive Beddoe
along with Calgary businessmen Tim Morgan, Donald Bell and Mark Hill. They all
had the same views for starting up a business that would satisfy the need for
western Canadians to start up an affordable air travelling experience. They
started the company by flying to only a few destinations around Canada such as,
Vancouver, Kelowna, Calgary, Edmonton and Winnipeg. As years, went by when the
company started to gain recognition WestJet added more destinations on their
maps as time went by.
WestJet
not only just sell low fares they also sell the fact of good customer service
and employee satisfaction. Instead of using the term employee they would like
to use the term “Westjetters” and instead of saying “passengers” they would say
“guest” to have more a connection with the company rather than to have the
separation. WestJet portrays close warmth environment. It is also one of the
few airlines that are not unionized.
Although
WestJet, hasn’t been around for a very long time compared to other airlines. It
has been growing and portrays to keep treat their guest, employees and company
to stay around.
Ø
Would
you ever consider working for WestJet?
Ø
Having
a non-unionized company for an airline is that a good idea?
